Short story- Cute fights

I am a sub-inspector at Gomti Nagar police station and also a mother of two lovely children, some times I get really tired to find a balance between work and home, “I will apply for leave this Saturday” I thought while wearing my uniform. Suddenly I heard

“Thadddd” and then the loud crying of Ruhi my daughter, “ahhh they started again” I mumbled.

I went to their room, Ruhi was crying inconsolably and Vansh her big brother was mocking her,

“What happened ruhi? Why are you crying ?” I made her sit in my lap and asked,

“Vansh bhaiya slapped me”, she replied and flashed her left cheek in front of me which has become red, she started crying again.

Vansh why did you slapped your younger sister, I asked with strictness in my voice

“She was not listening to me”,vansh replied

I was getting late for my duty so I tried to console Ruhi by giving her cookies, anyways this is their everyday routine, first, they will fight and then will become friends again, I put her to sleep and asked vansh not trouble Ruhi and came out of their room and thought “these children and their cute fights” and smiled.

At police station –

I was engrossed in an important case file, suddenly a girl of almost 23 years of age came in front of me

She had a plaster on her left hand, several bruises on her face and body as if someone had beaten her badly

Domestic violence??” I enquired, as in my career I have seen many such cases.

She nodded but didn’t speak a word

Your husband or in-laws??” I further enquired

She shook her head for a ‘no’ and said “mam I am unmarried”

“Who did this to you then ??”I asked surprisingly

“My brother” she replied

“What??? But why ?? “I had an uneasiness in my tone, what kind of brother beats her sister this badly, do their parents don’t teach them anything.

“Because I was not listening to him,” she said and started sobbing.

I don’t know why but in her bruised face I saw a glimpse of Ruhi as if she was sitting in front of me and was crying, I felt a pain in my heart,

I asked in a low tone “since when all this started??”

“Since CHILDHOOD”, she replied.

  1. A Heart wrenching story, and a possible scenario too. You have written well and have brought out the emotions. Parents should really teach right and wrong to their children.

  2. This is such a sad reality. What we all think is cute in the childhood slowly turns violent as time passes. This is a deep story! Is this real or fictional?

    1. Well every fiction is inspired from real events, I have seen this around me and also concluded most of the wife beaters have sister, and that’s where they got attitude that it’s normal to slap/kick

      1. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚then you should checkout my other blogs, you will feel you followed a man disguised as a girlπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

      2. Maybe that’s the positive part of your writing. You have that ability to make readers feel you’re writing down a real story of your life! That’s awesome 🀩

  3. Uff, loved it very much. You are right, the aggression starts form childhood itself. This was a very grim story reflecting reality rightly. Kudos 2 u

  4. Great 😌 story.

Ps- maybe there is a problem on your side it maybe why cause every time your blogs come 1 hr ago and then again the next day they appear on the top. Not to mention that I love πŸ’• em but still thought to bring it to your notice

    1. Ohh no no!!πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
This is not a glitch in my site, I write new stories once a week, for example, Sunday and for the rest of the days of that week, I keep republishing the post again and again in case anyone has missed it. So that’s why it appears on the top because I republish them by changing their date and time.
You can do it too by going into MY SITE β–ΆWP ADMINβ–ΆMY POSTSβ–ΆSelect the post and change its date and time and this will republish again
      Hope this helpsπŸ˜…πŸ˜…

      1. Oh wait a second! This gave me an idea. My old posts are not very famous. So if you don’t mind me stealing your idea that would be great πŸ˜‰

      2. Hey, it’s not my ideaπŸ˜…πŸ˜… every blogger does this here for the same reason!!! πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ™ˆ you are new here, you will learn this.
Yes, of course, go ahead with this, that’s why I have mentioned the steps for you.πŸ’ŸπŸ’ŸπŸ’Ÿ

      3. Thank you! Yeah I am new here! But you will keep guiding me like my elder sister!

  5. Oh no……that was so sad. The perspective of things sure do change as time goes on, and sadly some incidents that are deemed “cute” can turn out to be really bad habits in the future.

This was such a touching story!

    1. That’s so true the toxicity starts from childhood which hides behind the shield of ‘they are children’ …..
Thank you so much for reading ❀❀❀

  6. So, so good Vani πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ I wish I could convey how well you sculptured thistle piece, the ending is so very powerful!

    1. Most of us can relate….
If only some habits are curbed during childhood πŸ˜•

And yes, go ahead with republishing as I said its not my idea, everyone here at WordPress does thisπŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

    1. True that 😐😐😐
Parents need to understand that, their slight misjudgement can make their child toxic…
Thank you so much for reading ❀❀❀

  8. Ahhhhhh! This made me so sad. I am an only child and I have always longed for a sibling but this just makes me feel like I am happy alone. Although I know so many loving siblings πŸ™‚

    1. well not every sibling relationship is toxic but on the other side of coin not every sibling relationship is perfect…. it just depends on many factors… parents ignorance plays a major role here….
Thank you so much for reading ❀❀❀

  9. This was a hauntingly powerful tale. It’s very true that a lot of serious things children do like bullying and hitting each other is simply written off as ‘oh, they’re just children!’ But it’s still serious and should be taken just as seriously. The message in this story, coupled with your amazing writing – ultimately creates a stunning tale that I really enjoyed reading.

    1. yup, a slight misjudgement can make a child abusive and toxic.,..
After all habits start developing since early childhood …
Thank you so much for reading ❀❀❀

  10. Wow, what a nice story. Violence is an awful thing and often it is very hard, if not impossible, for women to break away from the violent family environment.
