So it was my 21st birthday on 26th February. Wait what????!!!!!! 21st birthday!!!????? 😨😨😨
I don’t know I have a fear of growing old (searching for wrinkles), especially when your age is increasing but life is in a stagnant position.
However, the day was full of fun, blessings, and wishes. A weird fact about me “I hate people wishing me at midnight like I just don’t like it, let me explain why-
Firstly people take it as a challenge, like “see I wished you first, No, I am first!!!”. Now I understand that it is their love and they put effort into wishing me but the actual purpose of the good wishes are lost behind this “hasty competition” and secondly, due to this competition the next morning seems deserted. Like at midnight “I was almost like an “Oscar-winning celebrity”, receiving calls one after another and on the very next morning, I became a “flop movie” actor 😶😶 .
That’s when extended family members come into rescue, they will help you to keep your chin up (yes you are still important 😂) but like everything on earth, this feature will also come with its set of pros and cons.
Pro– You will keep receiving “wishes” throughout the day and also blessings for your bright future and if it’s your generous uncle or aunt, they may promise you or order a gift online for you. (Yipeee)
Con– you don’t really know “what to say“.
A typical conversation of me talking to my relatives-
- THEY– Hello, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
- ME- Thank you.!!!!
- THEY– so what’s the plan, anything special today???
- ME- yes, yes we will go out in the evening.
- THEY– hmmm so how are your studies going on???
- ME- hmmm nice (*remembering all the chapters I left*)
- THEY– Good, good!!!
- ME- HMMMM ( what do I say now)
- THEY– hmmm how’s the weather there?
- ME- HMMM nice (*feeling painful awkwardness*)
- THEY– Hmmm
- ME- hmmm (*God please, do something, cut the phone call*)
- THEY– ok then, where’s mom??
- ME– MUMMMMMMYYYY(*running faster than the speed of light to hand over the phone to her*).
I know so many of you can relate to this, do tell me in the comment section!!!!!😂😂😂
I also went to the temple nearby for the blessings and then went shopping, brought some chocolates, cold drink, and I also brought a pair of jhumka (earring) for myself. So it’s time for another weird fact about me, I always buy a gift for myself on my birthday, every year without a miss (I also make sure, that it is gift-wrapped and all) my thought behind this- to make other people happy, we sometimes forget that we also deserve the same amount of love and effort which we do for other people, gifting myself something is a sign of self-love for me.
I received so many gifts, as my mother gifted me a ‘skirt top set, my neighbor aunty gifted me a ‘green colored beautiful top‘, dad gifted me ‘blue tooth earbuds’, ‘chocolates’ from friends and ‘love’ from all of them. You can see the pictures of all of them below (except the chocolate, alas they couldn’t survive till the photography session, we all dearly miss them especially my tastebuds😋)
In the evening, I cut the delicious “red velvet cake”, had a little photography session, and then we went out for dinner. We went out to eat in a restaurant after a year (from last birthday to this one), felt good, savored delicious Indian food, enjoyed the beautiful view of the city as it was a “rooftop restaurant” with a light breeze touching our faces gently and the beautiful songs in the background, the evening was perfect.
So this is how I celebrated completing 21 years on this earth, I love birthdays, it just suddenly makes a person very important and for this important, status all a person did was being born, the real tough day was for my mother who bore all the labor pain so that I can come in this world but somehow I am the important one here, so Happy Birthday to me😂😂😂!!!
Also thank you all for your lovely wishes, means a lot, many of you’re on hiatus but still wished me, I appreciate that. Thank you very much❤
